Table Tennis Tips

A real low and short no-spin serve can give you some easy points in matches, as they are difficult to flip hard, and they require good timing to push hard. Mix it up with a heavy backspin in the same spot. Remember to get it short, the ball should bounce short on your side close to the net...

  • Superior speed and spin
  • Suitable for offensive and defensive styles
  • Superior Control
  • Soft 40deg Sponge
  • ITTF approved

Ratings (out of 10):

  • Speed: 9
  • Spin: 9
  • Control: 9
  • Sponge: Medium Soft (40 degrees)

Comments:

The Globe 999 is still used by many of the top Chinese National players (eg. Ma Lin, one of the top players in the world uses a Globe 999 series rubber). Because of the great control this rubber offers, it's also been very popular with some of the top defensive style players. Globe have made a few more improvements of this very popular rubber over the years. The Globe 999 N-in is the latest version, with improved durability and playing characteristics.  This version with the new soft sponge is also much lighter than traditional chinese rubbers.

 Globe 999 reviews:

Soft topsheet allows you to generate huge spin. With the medium soft sponge (40deg) the speed is decent, but will need some glue to get it real fast. With a thin (1.5mm) sponge it's a very popular chopper rubber as it offers great control and huge spin or variation potential.

Great rubber!!! Good control, speed, spin, tackiness and weight. Perfect

A little bit less spinny than ritc rubbers at first but as you use this rubber the tackiness increases. its also less faster than ritc rubbers but its one of the most controllable chinese rubbers i have tried and i think its better than 729-2 or ritc 2000

Bought a 1 mm Globe999 but don't like it. It's not a rubber for a decent topspin. It's not spinny enough. But it has good control and you can smash very hard with it. And the price is nice!

I've got the 1.5 mm version. Its 40 degree sponge gives you great feel on chops but you can attack with it as well when necessary. Loops from it are difficult for your opponent to return. On smashes it gives very good speed. Overall a wonderful rubber. I use it on Joola Toni Hold.

I've just bought a few sheets of '999' after using Mark V for many years, and am amazed how good this rubber is. Control, spin, and speed are perfect for my loop game. If there is anything I'd pick on about this rubber, it is it's weight, which is quite heavy. on a value for money scale 999 is way ahead of MarkV as far as I'm concerned, and better as an all-round rubber.

I have tried this rubber last week during practice and my comments are the following: For Backhand it has what it takes, very much control, light, and you can do almost everything with it. For the forehand, I regret to say that it is slow and not spinny enough. I used it on a Dawei Carbon BBC blade, and the feeling is very good, on my forehand I use xienting chinese rubber, but must get used to it yet. My overall comment on Globe 999 is that should be used for backhand side only

A very polyvalent rubber, tacky (but less than a Friendship 729 FX), with a medium sponge (hardness c.a H40). You can do almost everything with it : chop, hit, loop. In 1.8 mm, interesting for an active defense style, with FH conter-attack.

Very good rubber with super control.

Great spin, decent control and feel. Good if you have a relatively hard and fast blade, as rubber is pretty slow due to its original soft cream sponge.
