Table Tennis Tips

A real low and short no-spin serve can give you some easy points in matches, as they are difficult to flip hard, and they require good timing to push hard. Mix it up with a heavy backspin in the same spot. Remember to get it short, the ball should bounce short on your side close to the net...

 Hallmark Mirage

Hallmark Mirage - New super slow anti-spin rubber

"Hallmark Mirage is a new generation of anti spin rubber giving long pimple effect. It has been developed to provide a playing surface for combination players who need to combat the speed and spin of the modern offensive player. Mirage is available with Hallmark’s new magic super slow sponge which slows down the ball and increases the effect of the playing surface.

Mirage produces high amounts of backspin when chopping away from the table, it is excellent for returning spin serves. Hitting with Mirage causes major disturbance to the opponent and pushing will cause the ball to have some forward rotation opening up opportunities for attacking.

Recommended for players who like to block close to the table. Ideal replacement rubber for Hallmark Original and Super Special."

 Hallmark Mirage Review:
The Mirage has an almost frictionless surface with a hard but very dead (slow) sponge. This makes it real easy to return serves short and wherever you want, as spin has virtually no effect on it at all, and the slow sponge takes all the pace out of the ball.

Spin reversal on passive blocks is fairly low, as with most anti-spin rubbers, but if you play an active chop (or chop-block close in) you can return good backspin.

It is not as deceptive as many long pimple rubbers, but it's much easier to control.

Suitable for those that focus on good placement, variation in pace of the ball (and some variation in spin), to either draw an error from opponents, or setup for an attacking shot using the other side of the bat. Also suitable for those that have trouble reading spin, especially from serves, where this rubber allows you to return the ball much more easily with good placement.
