Table Tennis Tips

A real low and short no-spin serve can give you some easy points in matches, as they are difficult to flip hard, and they require good timing to push hard. Mix it up with a heavy backspin in the same spot. Remember to get it short, the ball should bounce short on your side close to the net...

 Butterfly Sriver FX

“Butterfly proudly introduces another member of the SRIVER family of rubbers, SRIVER-FX. Designed for the neoteric technical game, FX combines the traditional SRIVER rubber surface with a softer, more elastic sponge layer. This combination allows the modern topspin attacker to produce greater spin variations and still generate Herculean speed with the addition of Speed Glue. This dog'll hunt.”

Characteristics:

  • High speed inverted rubber
  • Fast spinning
  • Quick attack and Loop
  • For initializing attack
  • ITTF/USATT/CTTA approved

Ratings (out of 100):

  • Speed: 78
  • Spin: 85
  • Control: 84
  • Sponge Hardness: Soft

Comments:

SRIVER FX has everything that SRIVER has offered for a long time: high speed and outstanding control. Furthermore, SRIVER FX gives you a greater feeling for the ball. This excellent feeling for the ball even at the fastest speed enables the so-called "European" allround play. Top maneuverability in services, returns, varieties of topspin, lobs and so on.

" What is the difference between Sriver, EL and FX?"

Sriver and its variations have long been our best selling rubbers. The original Sriver has a medium hard sponge and offers great all-round performance. With the advent of speed gluing, FX was introduced with a softer sponge which works well with the speed glue. Recently, many of our professional players expressed a desire for a Sriver product with the power of the original Sriver and the speed gluing properties of FX. Thus, Sriver EL was born. All three Sriver products have the same top sheet, the difference is in the sponges.

 Butterfly Sriver FX Review:

User Reviews (from internet/newsgroups):

Name: Tim

Country: England

Comments: A great rubber, good when used with fair chack, but lacks the speed that a rubber like bryce or bryce fx provides. but very spinny and great for control.undoubtably one of the best backhand rubbers there are.

Rating: 10

Name: Sugeng

Country: Malaysia

Comments: This is very traditional european type allround play rubber. Use not thicker than 2.0mm sponge, speed glue with the OFF- blade. It will give your marvellous spin effect as long as you keep the throtle on. Enjoy!

Comments: prior to buying a brandnew sriver fx, i was under the illusion that it was the best rubber until i played with it and realized how exasperatingly slow it is. To spoil it, i met a lot other players who share my view of the rubber as very slow. Of course, a beginner needs this rubber , NOT ME.I strongly advise _ beware of this rubber . You can do better.

Name: Sir Loop Alot

Comments: Good spin and control. It's a great backhand rubber. It's not fast enough for the forehand though. But it is still a very good rubber

Name: Juraj

Country: Slovakia

Comments: I think, that it is the best all/off rubber in the world! But you must combine it only with a little harder blade(bty petr korbel off, primorac carbon off+, some classic stiga or yasaka blade...). If you are a topspin offensive player you should to try.....You never put this rubber down!!!

Name: Ginko Tai_kim

Comments: This rubber has got to be one of the worst rubber you can buy. It lacks everything. SPIN, SPEED, and control. Steer clear of this one. This was given to me by a friend, he didnt like. I had it on for 2 weeks, after that I gave it to a beginner at the club.

Name: EH!

Country: Canada

Comments: this rubber is designed to be used with speed glue! why don't you guys do without? anyway, good rubber with speed and spin, thick spooge lacks a little bit control. so 2.0mm would be nice for off- player.

Comments: I have FX on my backhand. I like the soft sponge and the control it gives me. It is great for blocking and hitting. I recommend to those that need something easier to control on the backhand.

Name: Fabian

Country: Germany

Comments: Ich play this rubber in my backhand. I think this rubber is one of the best rubbers for the backhand. When you want to play it in your forehand, it is an bit to low. Enough speed and much spin.

Comments: Horribly slow, lacking in control, possess alot of weaknesses. You cannot really attack well with this rubber. Errors galore with this rubbers. So much effort required to hit the ball.

Comments: I use this rubber on my backhand. It provides me with lot of control, if glued it generates good speed. Long dwell time.

Name: Kenny

Country: United States

Comments: I feel that the rubber is made mainly to be used with speed glue. Without speed glue, the speed is slow and spin is not great. BUT, with speed glue, this is where the rubber springs to life with decent speed and OK spin with good control. Not a bad rubber but not the best.

Name: YeeJun

Country: USA

Comments: It's pretty good. I'm using MAX sponge thickness. Mine has a good arc and I can get nice spinny loops in, but it's hard to make really powerful attacking shots with this on my forehand. I might use Sriver EL with MAX sponge thickness next time instead.

Name: chris

Country: england

Comments: This rubber has been the transverse step in my career as it displays extreem control alongside all the caractoristics of a top class professional rubber. The only down side is that the top sheet does wear out quite quickly and i found that i the more i played the more glue i had to put on because it does not have the speed that a top players needs, bryce fx is the next step for me!

Name: Garrett

Country: United Kingdom

Comments: This rubber is ideal as a backhand rubber for the looping game, without speed glue for beginers or with speed glue for players who are more advanced and play more often. I would'nt recommend it for the forehand though because the sponge is too soft for power hitting, this is where I would recommend Sriver EL with speed glue or Sriver L if you don't use speed glue.

Name: Ste

Country: England

Comments: I used this rubber for about a year and a half and it was great. although it can be a little to slow at times. I find if you are an offencive player you shouldnt use this rubber, even with speed glue it seems DEAD slow. Though a perfect rubber for the allround player. Magna is FAR better!

Comments: found this rubber to be amazing with the new 4-6 day lasting glues like tibhar rapid clean deluxe. the spin speed and control was outstanding

Name: Mark

Country: Australia

Comments: Sriver FX is a slow rubber if you dont speed glue; go for flextra if you want something as slow as Sriver FX, at least then you would have reasonable spin

Rating: 2

Name: Del

Country: USA

Comments: By itself, its not the fastest, nor the spinniest. Speed glue is essential, as is a pretty fast blade (OFF to OFF+). Otherwise, you might as well play with D-13. If you like the control of a soft rubber, then adding it to a medium fast to fast blade is perfect: Great combination of speed, spin, and control.

Comments: I tried it on backhand of Stiga Offensive Classic with 3 layers of speed-glue. This is simply the best backhand rubber you can ever expect. Very soft, grippy and yet bouncy. Best for backhand top-spinning.

Comments: Simply the worst for me. It's softness make me sick. I don't know why but I didn't find adequate power with primorac carbon with 2 coat of glued sriver FX max! Does this rubber have a special behavior for me?!!!

Name: Knightmare

Country: England

Comments: This is a great rubber. as a kid I used it on backhand and forehand and was a great beginners rubber. I now use it with speed glue on my forehand and has lots of spin and more than enough power for me on my carbon blade. I wouldn't use it now without speed glue.

Country: england

Comments: not a bad rubber, but for me it is a tad too slow as without a super fast blade and 4 layers of speed glue it does nothing for me. for the same feeling but more speed i have moved to yasaka's Xtend SG this is a soft rubber that has a lot more speed and spin than sriver fx, the rubber doesn't compete against the new stuff on the market
