Tibhar
Nimbus VIP
|
Before the end of the Olympic Games in Beijing the rubber experts from
TIBHAR prepared several new rubber samples for their top players, such
as Vladimir Samsonov, to test. In order for Vladi and other top players
to make a smooth transition from the era of ‘speed gluing’, to the new
future, it was important for any replacement rubber to provide the
highest level of capabilities. Imediately after his return from the
Olympic Games, Vladi set out to test the sample rubbers. Tests
immediately showed that the NIMBUS rubber in combination with a newly
designed special hard V.I.P. power sponge proved to be the best choice.
Thanks to the collaboration between Samsonov and Tibhar they managed to
optimise the very hard sponge and overcome the loss of the glue effect
and Nimbus V.I.P. was born. Vladi used the rubber for the first time in
the European Championships at St. Petersburg and the success was
amazing. During the whole team event he remained unbeaten and in the
singles event lost only in the final, taking the silver medal. NIMBUS
V.I.P. is now available to you.

Review by Sprite (Publised with

I'm not good at reviewing, so don't expect much. I
just got the sheet yesterday and hit using a robot today. Top spin only,
like working off of blocking. The sponge is advertised as 47.5 hardness
I think. The top sheet is very strong also. As you would imagine this
sheet has a powerful rebound and throws the ball out with a lot of
energy. Immediately the speed shows itself. This is the fastest of the
new generation sheets I have tried. This includes Tenergy 05, Platin,
Roxon 450, Express One and Boost TP. Blinding speed when ripping loops
or smashing. I don't remember ever using anything faster. On the YEO,
Gatien Extra and Clipper the speed of VIP was extreme on each blade. Low
throw and thrives on open blade looping. It will accommodate closed
angle loops but timing becomes more critical. Closed angle was better on
the Extra and Clipper than the YEO. Due to this I am persuaded VIP
matches better with soft outer plies. Since I like closed angle looping
more time will be spent looking at this aspect. The spin is very strong,
I don't need anyone one on the other end to tell me, it is obvious. VIP
is suited best for positive top spin play and doesn't need a fast blade
to produce tremendous speed.
After some adjustment from TP to VIP the VIP is
good for closed angle loops, maybe it needed some break in time. I don't
know what it is about it, but that VIP sponge is very good. I can't help
but think it is similar to Bryce sponge; high modulus.
Yes, significantly faster than T-05. It is one of
the fastest sheets I've ever tried, including speed glued sheets.
