Transcend is a chinese sponge developed by 729 in-house.
It's elastic. Hardness is around 40ish. Great glue effect. Higher & Faster
both have thin topsheets. Similar to H2, H3, G666 in terms of structure. They
all have thin topsheets.
It doesn't have any chacteristics of euro/jap rubbers. 1st
it's tacky, that's what generally a chinese rubber is like. 2nd for it's weight,
I wouldn't say it's as light as Japanese made ones.
If you like close to table attack, chinese rubber is the
way to go. I've seen people that do not play close to table attack hate Chinese
rubbers.
Higher is tackier than faster. Faster is not neccesarily
faster than higher. Don't get fooled by their names. I have both. Higher is
quite good for looping. However, it's too elastic for smashing.
This is one of the nicer offering s from friendship.
The green transcend plays similarly to the magic red sponge.
It's only half tacky and loops better than most Friendship offerings, but
still retains the nice touch in the short game. Weight is medium to
medium-light.
I've tried the Higher on Transcend, and I love it. It's not
as spinny as their max rating (12) that their giving it, and it's not really
quite as fast either, but it's very easy to control, and is awesome for looping.
It's still very spinny, but the topsheet isn't suited for spinny serves etc.
I've heard people say that it's too bouncy for good
pushes/service return, but I find it to be more effective than my Cream MRS for
both. Maybe it's just personal preference.
Higher vs Cream MRS
The sponges are similar, but the green sponge under higher
is a little improved. Faster and springier. Higher is lighter. Less sticky.
Faster.
Cream is probably going to push, chop, and serve better for
most. And maybe flat hitting too. Looping's going to go to higher by a long
shot.
Pushing may not be as SPINNY as cream since it's not as
sticky and it's a little springier. But it has almost the same control and a
similar feel. It's better on looping and flipping. Awesome on flipping.
