729 Faster III review: |
Review by LawOCG (with thanks): Out of the packet the Faster III looks to be made of very high quality materials (it actually is!). I found the rubber to have a very
"Thick" feeling to it. When it was used on my FH, I felt as if I was using a 2.5mm rubber if that makes sense. The topsheet is subtle and the sponge is very elastic and around a medium softness. If I had a guess I would say the sponge is around 39 degrees. For pushing and chopping, everything is controlled and precise with alot of spin if you wish to impart that much.
For blocking and counterhitting its probably way better then all the other previous 729's as its rebound speed is tremendous for a chinese rubber. The rubber really shows it grunt when you start loopdriving. If you glue it up moderately, your loop drives will be tremendous. There is huge mechanical grip and the arc that it produces is fairly low. Even with counterlooping it holds up and rarely tops out unless you try for the 99% power shots. Other than that this rubber is by far the best 729 Ive ever used. Note: the rubber weight is comparable to the old 729's which means its slightly heavier. Also
the rubber has quite a low throw that will take some getting used to. |
