Table Tennis Tips

A real low and short no-spin serve can give you some easy points in matches, as they are difficult to flip hard, and they require good timing to push hard. Mix it up with a heavy backspin in the same spot. Remember to get it short, the ball should bounce short on your side close to the net...

The is a recent rubber from Globe to be ITTF approved. A tacky and soft topsheet combined with a very soft 38 degrees sponge, gives this rubber good speed, excellent spin and very good feel and control.

 Globe Magicwand review:

Review Globe Magicwand 2.0mm 38deg white sponge.

I tried this rubber on an Stiga Energy Wood OFF- blade.

The topsheet feels quite tacky, but not ultra tacky like the Globe 999T.

The soft rubber gave very good feel on the blade. Loops were not real fast, but with excellent control and VERY good spin. There was good dwell time and with the grippy rubber I could put it exactly where I wanted.

With a fast drive, the rubber seemed to have an extra gear and some extra speed was generated. Smashing was average, not too bad for a soft rubber.

Chops, pushes and serves were easy, with very good spin and control..

Block were fairly good but came off very slow. The soft sponge seemed to absorb the power on blocks somewhat. I did not find this on the loops.

I think this rubber will feel even better on a harder blade, it may sacrifise some of the control, but will give it the extra speed it needs.

All in all I found it a very nice rubber for controlled looping, serving and chopping, but a little slow. I think it would also make an excellent defensive rubber. It would also be very good for learners who want to learn the proper technique for looping. It’s cheap and good value for money.

I have tried to glue this rubber (Tibhar rapid clean deluxe), and although it became a fair bit faster, it didn’t add much to the game. This rubber is definitely not for the fast attackers out there, but is effective for controlled loopers, allround or defensive players.
